Friday’s showing format has changed: Fresh Fridays is back! See here for more information.

Fresh Fridays may make our Fridays different this semester, but we will still have our standard format with weekly episode showings on Thursdays.

Click here to vote in the showing nominations Facebook poll!

The top ten valid anime show nominations will make it into the final voting round on Thursday, January 25! Come join us at 4:30pm in Kuykendall 210 that day and cast your vote there. Those picked will become our weekly Thursday showings for the semester.

There is a limit where the series nominated must not have been picked in the past two years. To see what we’ve watched, check out our past showing picks here.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the new year– hope your first week went well. Our first meetings this semester will be on January 25 and 26th, 4:30-7:00p in Kuykendall 210!

Before we start, we’d like to announce a few changes this semester that will hopefully make club more fun:

  • First, voting will be free for all showing picks during our general meetings! The remaining perks of AMS membership will stay of course— Crunchyroll access, club discounts on tickets to Kawaiikon and other happenings, and use of our table at events as an AMS-affiliated artist (guidelines to be announced will apply).
  • Second, we’re bringing back Fresh Fridays, a format that’ll focus on showcasing new stuff. One or two shows for these sessions will be chosen on a weekly basis, and new series will be picked at the end of each meeting (or at least 75% majority to continue shows). Since anyone can vote or introduce stuff, we can watch almost any anime ‘so long as they’re something we can find and are appropriate. If nothing new is suggested, officer picks, casual watching, games, or other activities may be done the next week.

What do you think? Got questions, comments, or suggestions? Let us know at ams@hawaii.edu!

And you have chosen! We will be watching the following shows for Fall 2017:

THURSDAYS

FRIDAYS

On both days, we have left an empty half-hour showing slot. This can be used for officer picks, Crunchyroll random button… or any show you would like to pick and share with us, no membership required!

For meeting times, location, and week-by-week showing schedule, check out our event calendar.

It’s official– our first meetings will be Thursday and Friday, 9/7 and 9/8 in SAKAMAKI B102, 4:30p-7:00p. Be sure to come by and vote for what you want to watch! Of course, check out the poll here to pick your nominations. The voting cutoff will be Wednesday, September 6 at 11:59p midnight.

Also– if you are a current AMS member, an undergrad/grad student at the University of Hawai’i, and are able to attend some of our weekly meetings and officer meetings with us, we ARE looking for anyone who wants to become a student officer of the Anime and Manga Society. If you’re interested, send us a message on our page, through ams@hawaii.edu, or give us a shoutout in the AMS Group comment section!

Finally, we have an idea to let those of you artists out there display and sell your own art through AMS at our booth during KawaiiKon, and possibly other conventions. We’re still ironing out the details, so stay tuned!

And the showings for this semester have been chosen!

Want to meet people who love anime, manga, and/or video games? Come and join us on Thursdays and Fridays from 4:30-7:00 every week for a full two-and-a-half hours of anime! (Room: Kuykendall 210)

And the people have spoken! These are the showings you have chosen for us to show in Fall 2015. We’ll start with the first episodes of these series next week– meetings are same place and time, Thursdays and Fridays from 4:30-7:00 at Hemenway 211. We’ll see you then!
